Social Program

As part of the Social Program, conference participants will be offered a guided tour of Saarbrücken Castle.

The castle developed into a Renaissance castle in the 17th century, of which underground structures still exist today. In the meantime it has been affected several times, burned down in parts and rebuilt, and since 1989 the castle has shone in new splendour. Architect Gottfried Böhm designed a contemporary central building made of glass and steel. Today, the castle is the administrative centre, cultural centre and venue for conferences and festive evenings.

Fourteen metres below the castle square in Saarbrücken, the Historical Museum Saar offers a surprise. Visitors can descend into the underground Saarbrücken castle complex from the Middle Ages and Renaissance and discover fascinating historical buildings there: parts of the medieval castle, a shooting chamber, fortifications and casemates from the 16th century, a ballroom built in the moat and a dungeon.

The Social Program will be completed with a conference dinner, which will take place in the "Ratskeller" in the heart of Saarbrücken. The Restaurant "Ratskeller" can already look back on 100 years of tradition and is located in the town hall of Saarbrücken. The guests are spoiled with regional specialities in a pleasant ambience.
